Marsha P. Johnson
Mantra: "Pay it no mind."
Marsha “Pay it no mind” Johnson has blessed generations, not just by the beauty of her existence against all odds, but because of her loving presence in the lives of generations of Queer and Trans People of Color. She provided housing, mothering, love and an encouragement to “pay it no mind” to young people pushed out into the streets because of homophobia and transphobia. Some say the word “mantra” means free mind, or no mind, achieved through repetition. Marsha P. Johnson leads us in moving out of our minds and into our hearts with this mantra that clears space for our deepest knowing.
