Every Breath: The Cosmic Purpose Intensive is an in-person reflective writing workshop. Participants will engage writings by and about Audre Lorde with activities designed and facilitated by Alexis Pauline Gumbs. The purpose of this workshop is for each participant to leave with insights and energy around their community accountable life-purpose.
The workshop will take place on January 17th, 2026 from 10am to 2pm in a metro Atlanta community space. The address will be sent to participants in advance.
When you register for the intensive, you will have the additional option to sign up for a one-on-one hour-long virtual session with Alexis as a supportive follow-up structure for your purposeful progress.
the essay definition of a star by alexis pauline gumbs was first published as the preface to the most recent german language edition of audre lorde's prose collection a burst of light.
participants in the course are the first audience to read the essay in the english language. feel free to read this essay before the workshop at your own pace.

This workshop is open to readers of Audre Lorde and Alexis Pauline Gumbs who are excited to be part of a space that centers Queer Black Feminist Brilliance.

No. Food is not included, but there will be water and tea throughout.
Housing and travel are not included in the intensive. Participants from out of town are responsible for their own housing and travel.
