FAQ: Daughter Rhymes With... (May 2024)

Is housing included?

No. There will be no housing nor housing recommendations. The intensive gathering space will be in downtown Durham, NC.

What airport should I fly into?
The intensive will take place in downtown Durham, NC. The closest airport is RDU airport.

Where can I park?
There is a parking deck right next to the building we will be meeting in and there are 3 additional parking garages within 3 blocks.

I identify as white, can I register for this Visionary Daughtering reflective writing intensive?
No, not this one.

I will still be under 18 years of age by the start of the intensive but can I still register and attend ?

No, not this one. This intensive is for people 18 years and up.

Can I participate virtually?
No, not this one.
Presenting virtually would both require additional support/team members and change the dynamic and activities of the space. I look forward to supporting a virtual intensive in the future. For those that want a Mother's Day/Father's Day practice, Alexis suggests Repetition is Sacred for those that want a specific practice at this parent honoring time but are not doing the Daughter Rhymes With...

What sorts of food and drink will be provided?
Our brilliant Black feminist chef will provide a full gluten-free, vegan, soy-free meal that will wow you! You can share any additional dietary needs (boundaries and blessings) in the registration form. Water and lemonade will also be provided with the meal.

Filtered water will be provided throughout the intensive.

Note: This is a “dry” space. No alcohol, cigarettes or vaping in the space or anywhere on site; so not on any patios, decks, roofs, sidewalks out front, etc.

I am only available for part of the time, can i still register and participate for part of the time?
No.

Could I have access to a kitchen during the intensive?
No.
Our setup will allow you space to write, reflect, use the restroom but there will be no access to a kitchen if you see a kitchen or breakroom in the space please respect that it is not for use by participants, but only by our Black feminist chef and her team.

My flight or ride is coming just as the intensive begins or ends, can I bring my luggage?
If you arrive before our daily start time your bag can be stored in a storage space. If you arrive after start time your bag can be stored in the hallway outside of our gathering space.
You can bring a backpack into our gathering space but not more bags or luggage than that. We will not have space to accommodate luggage in the gathering space, only in the storage space prior to the start of each day’s session..

Someone I know didn’t receive an invitation. Can they register?
No.
But send me their name and email address anyway in case something shifts.
