Almost a decade ago my dear sister adrienne maree brown asked me to write an essay about Toni Cade Bambara for her soon to be NYT Bestselling book Pleasure Activism. In the process of writing I found that Toni Cade Bambara and her mentees connected me to generations of Black feminist femme pleasure. In a time when femicide and gendered violence are rampant, visible and triggering us as survivors, I want to write back into that deep well of wellness with you. I am clear that fascism cannot survive the collective freedom of turned on and tuned in femmes, deeply connected to our power.
Join us for a reflective writing journey to ground us in the expansive legacy of pleasure our ancestors and exemplars (especially Bambara) have left for us.
