100 Days: Support and Accountability

In the rhythm of regime change new leaders often make a show of power in their first 100 days in their new office. It may include pardons, proclamations, executive orders etc. This past Fall it occurred to me that those of us not represented in the current show of power, and who may also feel triggered and disempowered by a definition of power that attacks the very existence of our communities need to have our own 100 days. Our own show of power. We need to inaugurate our own reality. And we need each other to do it. I shared the prompt itself along with Audre Lorde's poem Bicentennial Poem #21,000,000 after election day 2024 and I shared a session leading up to the US presidential inauguration. That first video is missing now thanks to the magic of Instagram the more recent video is linked below to the compromised social media platform where I originated it(IG live).

But you do not need to watch the videos in order to engage the prompt. The question is as we renew our commitment to liberation:

  1. Who are you ready to forgive? (It might be you! In that case, what are you ready forgive yourself for?)

  2. What new practices will you commit to that align with your vision of liberation? What existing practices do you want to renew your commitment to?

  3. What community institutions do you want to invest in more deeply in alignment with your vision of liberation? What existing community commitments do you want to renew?

  4. What laws are you ready to change around how you relate to yourself and your communities?

This space is for anyone. All over the world people are facing fascist regimes and the transnational impact of fascist regimes other nations. You can also start at anytime because it is always the first 100 days of the rest of your life! This space will offer a weekly reminder to check in about your commitments and s space to voice them in the comments (away from social media) to find support and inspiration in community. There will also be periodic zoom check-ins specifically for this community of accountability as we move through these 100 days.

With love and gratitude,
